about milan krajnc

I entered the world of creation at a very young age, and what stands out the most is my ability to express my feelings through it. While I don’t recall the specific events of my early childhood as vividly, I remember the emotions associated with them. This creative journey began before I turned six, a time when my character had not yet fully formed. Looking back now, as a psychologist and psychotherapist, I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to shape my own identity rather than being solely influenced by my environment.

Despite living in a society with many limiting beliefs, I was perhaps lucky that my parents were preoccupied with their own lives, allowing my potential to flourish. I have vivid memories of drawing extensively during that time. Even then, I would create collections or explore specific concepts, such as drawing flowers in various unique ways. However, I quickly moved on to working with wood, using roots and tree trunks to carve different images. I didn’t fully comprehend the nature of my artistic pursuits, but I derived immense enjoyment from them. I even set up my own gallery in my room to showcase my creations.

At some point, I discovered poems written by my mother, Francisca, during her youth. That’s when I began to explore writing. By the age of ten, I had written my first poem, and from there, I started writing one poem a day, gradually immersing myself in the world of storytelling. Consequently, I focused more on writing than reading, which aided in the development of my writing skills. However, due to this emphasis on writing, I never truly grasped the fundamentals of spelling, making proofreaders invaluable for my texts. Nevertheless, when I reflect on it now, I see that this aspect allowed me to develop a heightened sense of emotion and potential, leading me to a state of freedom in my creative pursuits.

During my elementary school years, I discovered the works of American author Emily Dickinson. Her style resonated with me, and I delved into her writings extensively. Additionally, I immersed myself in biographies of various poets and writers. I always had a keen interest in understanding the motivations behind a person’s creations. I wanted to comprehend what inspired someone to produce such beautiful texts, paintings, or sculptures.
